Obituari Deddy Sutomo (Majalah Tempo, 23 April 2018)

Tulisan saya mengenang aktor kawakan Deddy Sutomo di Majalah Tempo (23 April 2018).

Karena membuat  tulisan ini, saya menonton  lagi film "Atheis" karya Syumanjaya (1974). Sebuah karya yang luar biasa, provokatif, dan subversif pada zamannya--walau disupervisi oleh ulama sekaliber HAMKA dan diadaptasi dari novel terkenal yang sudah puluhan tahun dijadikan bahan pelajaran di berbagai sekolah".

Film yang sangat penting. Namun bisa dipastikan akan menimbulkan kegaduhan kalau dirilis lagi di era kekinian ini.

Kembali ke profil Deddy Sutomo, selamat membaca. Alfatihah....

 

"Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts", Watershed Bristol, 2018.

On the 24th of April, I did a public talk on "Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts". Watershed, the biggest art-house cinema in Southwest, screened the film from 20 to 126 April. along with bu Hana Satriyo, I shared my take particularly on "Marlina related to "Women, Gender, and Indonesian Cinema".

BTW, this is the first public talk for me as a Doctor in Film Studies :)

Glasgow, Blues, and A Piano Man

We went to Glasgow Central Station, and saw a piano, and still had few minutes before the train departed.
